  • FMA

To me, FMA means Full Metal Alchemist, one of the best anime serieses out there to date. While the end of the series was an obvious lead-in to the movie releasing this summer, it was still good. For those unfamiliar with the series, it follows two young alchemists, Edward Elric "Full Metal" and his brother Al as they search for the philosopher's stone to undo the damage their attempts at human transmutation had wrought. It's definitely a tale of morality and not for little kids, but a very good story nonetheless.

We all know the 'FMA' on the news tonight will be the Federal Marriage Amendment. I would rather see Ed and Al give an animated speech on the abuses of power and doing the right thing. That would be a much more moral topic in my humble opinion. I don't see what is so moral about telling two people who love each other and live together that they cannot pay a marriage license fee to get married simply because they are the same gender. I think it's the ultimate discrimination. Who doesn't want to eventually marry and spend the rest of their life with the love of their life?

In previous generations, the line on the marriage issue was one of race and really, the arguments are mostly the same now as it was back then. I do see this action as yet another step backwards.
