  • Transformers

If you can stand the slow load due to traffic, there's a teaser for the Transformers live-action movie coming out to theaters next summer available here: http://www.transformersmovie.com/

My inner fan girl is jumping up and down. It's not much after waiting so long for the movie which was first mentioned in Wizard magazine several years ago as an idea. Some of you might remember that? I was afraid it had been shelved permanently for a long time, but now we only have a year to wait and it does look promising. I'm hoping they add more photos, etc. soon. (I want a new wallpaper!)

So anyway, work tomorrow, yee haw.

  • Celts and Trees

NION (Ash) February 18 to March 17 - Born under this sign are those who
have a knowing of the connection between ourselves, our planet, and our
universe. You feel the pain and joys of all living creatures, which makes you
    most compassionate.

    Find your 'tree' here: http://www.freewebs.com/theghostofwe/sacredceltictreeswoods.htm

A bit more on Ash from the same site: ASH - A Druid sacred tree. Druid
wands were often made of ash because of its straight grain. Ash wands
are good for healing and for general Magic. Put fresh ash leaves under
your pillow to stimulate psychic dreams.

*laughs* Like I'm going to put ash leaves under my pillow to make more weird dreams come my way. I just don't think so.

Anyway, I'm going to study here for a bit. Have a great Fourth of July tomorrow.

  • Happy Independence Day

All right, so I'm a bit ahead of the festivities of the day itself, but who isn't? My plans for tomorrow include studying and farting around the house like a lazy bum. How's that? Well, I need to work on my resume and get it out to a few places and see what this girl can find, because I am well ready to move on from my one day a week of delivery for the paper. It was supposed to be a putz job that's evolved into something I wasn't actually willing to do. So I probably will do some of that today so I can still have my laze-around day before Wednesday and Thursday.

I probably should see if the library has any references on writing decent resumes. I'm going to try to do all my week's reading today if I can in the textbook.

Wednesday drive and delivery day which I positively hate since I have to be at work by 7 and then drive to Emporia and then drive back and then load up my bundles and go make deliveries at the various places. I don't get lunch.

    Thursday, midterms.

Friday, I'm going to go see Pirates of the Carribean.

Ahh, my so interesting life. Whee.

  • I'm never quite sure what to say

    But I'll say something anyway...

Who cares? Who's watching while I writhe out verbal atrocities profanely slithered

                                    from my tongue

Is it fate or is it

machinations forced down in a sleeper's choke

                                                                             so let me scheme

                                                                                                  dreamer, just keep dreaming...

    I'll walk, thanks

Save your change for another outstretched arm...

                                                                Dance with them instead.

  • What a weekend...

Well, yesterday was great - I completed the seminar with little issues except being tired. I'm sure I passed. (It was a pass/fail class.) This morning went well in some ways in that I got most of my study notes caught up and an e-mail off to my career advisor which hopefully gets some wheels in motion for improving my current work situation.

I was very industrious this morning, I got my bathroom cleaned and did most of my normal weekend chores.

However both my air conditioner and my floor fan bit the dust. So I waited for the place here in town that sells a.c.'s to open and got me a new one. I also picked up a box fan that was on sale, so I will remain cool. But as anyone who has installed a window ac unit knows, it is pretty an all-afternoon process with the removal of one and installation of another. Especially since writing instructions at Amana seems to be a rousing game of 'how much can we mess with the consumer's head'...

If you'd like to take a fun online quiz, here's my results from one - you might get more than one result if you're tied like I was.

Want To Know Which Element You Are?

    You are Spirit!

Truly a rare breed, you're calm and thoughtful
but still know how to live life. Things are taken slowly but your large list of experiences (yours as well
as others) can help you adapt to new situations with little trouble or people being hurt. Unfortunately,
you're the most likely to ignore yourself over other people. Emotions rule you, and though you are quick
to kindness, your anger could scare the fiercest of creatures. Learn to relax a bit and live your own life.

Best Match: Fire, they'll pull you out of your shell and teach you plenty of things in life.

Worst Match: Water, they're too intent on their emotions to notice yours.

Want To Know Which Element You Are?

    You are Water!

Stuck between the sky and the ground, you lack
the sudden impulse that Air has but are unable to root yourself down like Earth. Though you have troubles
finishing projects, people can depend on you for the most part (even if it means pulling a few all-nighters).
On the plus side, you are extremely adaptable and thus can adjust to any situation. Sure, you might not like
it, but it doesn't weigh you down.

Best Match: Fire, just enough 'oomph' to keep your interest.

Worst Match: Spirit, you'll be out the door before they make up their minds.

  • Gas - or It's All About Experience

Everyone's blog should have at least one entry with 'gas' in the title. Why? I don't know, but I can't come up with a reason for 'why not' and I'm sure you can't either. Besides, it grabs everyone's attention, don't you think? We all think flatuence is funny whether we admit it or not. (At least so long as it's not us who lets one at the most inopportune moment.)

But actually that's not the kind of gas I'm referring to. I meant the kind you get at the pump that everyone cries when they have to pay for it. (Instead of crying when you have to smell someone else's... sorry, I will try to curtail my fart references from here on out...) I should have gotten gas yesterday - it went up twenty cents again this morning. I did not cry, because experience should have already told me never to fuel up on a Friday. Friday, of course, is the start of the weekend. But I have this lovely habit of losing track of what day it is. Considering that I only work on Wednesdays, it makes my feel for the week quite odd. I don't have weekends, I have times where I'm not doing homework, studying, in class, or working. Those are video game days, going to the gym/tanning/getting hair done days, or hanging out (with family/friends) days.

Experience should have told the worker who was supposed to be at the gas station that she should have been there early for her manager's sake instead of being late. Whether that worker remains employed should be interesting. Probably, she has no fear if she hasn't been fired yet. lol. Ever notice that some people have jobs that they consider so bad they don't care if they get chewed out or fired? Those are the jobs that you usually don't have to worry about getting fired from because no one else wants the job. I can really relate to that. LOL. But I try my hardest no matter what I do.

It's why I'm growling at my computer right now because the ACCC site is down again. I need to get into the databases so I can wrap up this one section on my paper.

Experience in addition to your college coursework is necessary. What does that mean? I need to either find volunteer solutions or another job that reflect the course I'm working on. I also need to look into taking the ACT.
All of the colleges I might need to transfer to require either ACT or SAT scores, so... yep. Phone calls in my future... I need to call Barb, actually, to see if there's any chance in the near future of getting hours again for housekeeping.

I need to get in next week to talk to my counselor, I think. I haven't spoken to him since start of classes. heh. Go me!   So I guess I'll see if he's available Monday.

  • How Indian are you?

I scored a 58% on the "How Indian Are You?" Quizie! What about you?

That quiz is just wrong. lol. One of my friends who actually is full Indian scored lower on this than I did. (Indian as in India)... But have fun taking it, yeah?

I need to review and I need to do the laundry but do you see me doing either at the moment? LOL. Nope, I'm pounding away in my blog. Oh well, I'd better get some stuff done anyway, whether I want to or not.

    Have a good day everyone!

  • Yesterday

Yesterday was probably the worst day as far as frustration / bad things happening than I've had in a long time. First off, someone ran into the back of the newspaper van (evidently) and dented the hatch. It's in the body shop getting fixed. I'm guessing my boss didn't call the police, which I can kinda understand because no one saw anything.

Okay, then I get lost trying to follow directions to a town I'd 1) never been to and 2) only knew of one route to. Next time I won't, but it just added to the pressure when I had to bring the van back so it could be taken to the shop then take my car to make that final run on the route I did know. I worked ten hours with no real break unless you count the time when I'm hanging around the Gazette back rooms in the morning, but no lunch.

In between all this, evidently my predecessor neglected to tell me of one subscription drop-off I was supposed to do in one town. So my boss was on the phone trying to smooth that over.

I had to go back this morning to finish up because everyone was gone by the time I got back.

Okay, I need to get back on my schoolwork. I'm meeting a friend for lunch, I've got to sign some paperwork, and I've got class again this afternoon/evening which will entail a lot more homework than we had Tuesday. LOL.

  • Weekend's go by too fast

They really do - this doesn't feel like Monday, but instead like a repetition of Sunday. I suppose because Sunday was so frantic for me. I'm still tired. My weeks are strange. Thus far, no call regarding the housekeeping position. I'm thinking they may well have decided against hiring me for whatever reason.

For some reason a kitten decided wedging itself under the hood of the escape was a good idea. I put it back across the street for now which is where it seemed to have come from, but I'm keeping an eye on it. It's not feral, oddly enough, so someone's been taking care of it, but I'm not sure exactly where it's running to. We don't have a shelter for cats around here. It's just for dogs. We have a very large cat population around here. Manitou is just too high strung to trust him with a baby kitten alone for any length of time and since there are times when no one is here, i bring her inside as much as I wanted to. But, I am still keeping an eye on her. Someone's feeding her because she wasn't emaciated or anything. She just thought the engine of the suv was a good hidey-hole.

My great-aunt has taken an interest in what I'm doing with school and whether or not I like the classes, etc. So I'm e-mailing her back.

  • My mother's test

They will not have an answer as to her nerve endings in her neck causing the pain for another week. How can we have this much advanced technology and medical stuff takes so long to process? I don't know. Maybe I expect too much but then again it is my mother and I hate to see her in pain.

I really don't want to see anyone in pain, mostly because I want to make it go away for them. Of course we usually can't no matter how much want to.
